The Ultimate

Yes, this has to be the ultimate.

I’m sitting in our lovely garden, listening to the birds, smelling the newly blossomed roses and watching the sea planes overhead fly away toward the San Juan Islands. It’s yet another perfect day – clear, cloudless, warm, breezy and yummy. AND I’m actually working at the same time! D is very clever and has extended our wifi so that it covers pretty much the whole property.

So…MacBook Pro, iPhone, a little sunscreen and I’m all set to do updates on our stock photo website without missing a second of sunshine.

Bliss.

p.s. sure beats the years I spent toiling in a windowless office as a marketing exec in a hollywood agency…

I’ve spent much of the last two days scrambling to water and shelter the plants that have just started rebounding from the harsher-than-normal winter. It’s been beautifully sunny for weeks now, with barely a passing cloud. But in the last 48 hours, we’ve broken records with the heat and it’s shocking how fast the ground dries out and plants begin to whither.

Mind you, we are NOT complaining. The sunshine has put a sparkle in our hearts as well as on our lakes and waterways. But I guess I had better stay on top of the forecast more diligently.
Whew. It’s 9:00 pm and nearly 90 degrees still.
The robins are loving that I’ve got a sprinkler going in the woodland garden. The new plants D got me are dropping leaves and petals faster than I can pick them up, and the newly planted hellebores are turning crispy before my eyes.
Since we lost several hundred dollars worth of plants this winter, I’m not about to let that repeat!
Meanwhile, the blooming continues! So I’ve had fun shooting in between watering, weeding and planting.
