As requested by many of you, the golden shades of autumn in Paris, with new views and old favorites. It truly is one of the most lovely times here. Highly recommended for a slower pace, gentle walks, and glorious scenes. Best locations are Jardin du Luxembourg, the Tuileries, Montmartre, all along the Seine and the outlying parks. Hope to see you here! 🍁🍂
At home in Paris. I created several reels this summer of quiet moments in our apartment but only now getting a chance to share. The Shakespeare bust is a cherished family heirloom and a nod to my previous career path.
Bonjour! Sumptuous ceiling details and chandeliers from our Journées du Patrimoine (@jepofficiel) visits this year. We’re so happy to share them as most visitors to Paris may never have the opportunity to view these historical monuments, which are only open to the public two days each year during the Heritage Days every September.
#1 and #2 Painted ceiling detail in the ballroom, Hôtel de Clermont
#3 through #9 Various reception rooms, Assemblée Nationale
#10 through #12 Stunning reception room and grand escalier, Hôtel de Béhague, Romanian Embassy
If you’ve enjoyed these, please let us know as we have many JEP photos from many years that we’d love to share! See more @aparisianmoment
Summer’s last golden light at the Medici Fountain. Now that we are well and truly in the autumn season, I thought you might like one last look at the sherbet-flowered urns that graced the fountain in Jardin du Luxembourg this summer. To capture the moment, a few days ago I arrived as the park opened, the morning light gilding the rippling water under the canopy of trees. I’m so glad that I did as the weather has abruptly turned autumnal with heavy rain this evening. But it held off throughout this Heritage Days weekend, one of our favorites in the Parisian calendar. Both days we visited remarkable properties that are normally closed to the public. We’ll share in the days to come all these many more reasons to keep falling in love with Paris. Wishing you a beautiful new week.
Favorite views from my favorite time of year at Jardin du Luxembourg, when the urns are overflowing with magenta blooms and the oleanders add their dollops of pink, creating a second spring. They can be enjoyed for a few more weeks before being replaced with the annual autumn-themed florals. I hope you are all well and that the week ahead is positive and joyful. 💕 Love from Paris xx
Favorite café in Paris 💕🥐☕️ Always open and great service ☺️😉 And from this vantage we’ve seen the flame relay, and men’s and women’s cycle time trials. 🚴♂️🚴 A few blocks walk from here we’ve had the Triathlons and cycle races pass right by. 🏃🏻♀️🏃Definitely an unexpected perk. If only we could have added the 🏇jumping but that was perfection against the backdrop of Versailles. Bonne journée!
Bonjour, mes chers amis! Well, it’s been quite a week. Have been watching several races right from the balcony. 😎 I’m sure you’re getting plenty of amazing coverage that I can’t improve upon so here’s a petite pause in the form of beautiful white roses. Breathe deeply ☺️ And another week to come! 🇫🇷🎉🥇🏇🏊♂️🏃🏻♀️
A magical rose garden just outside of Paris. If you are here for the Olympics, this is a lovely afternoon outing in between events. Or anytime the roses are blooming from May to September. It is very quiet in my neighborhood these days, with most streets to the river now blocked in anticipation of the Opening Ceremonies. But everything is in place and the athletes have begun arriving. Paris is ready to welcome the world! 💕🇫🇷🌹

Huge gratitude to my publishers @pavilionbooks @harpercollinsuk @gibbssmithbooks and my co-author @naomisladegardening as well as the many people who helped make it possible including dear friend @floresie and the ladies at @harmonyhrvst and friends @dekkerchrysanten

Bonjour! A pretty peony bouquet from an earlier shoot on one of our balconies. I’m just starting to catch up with the season and blissfully looking ahead at a summer with no deadlines. Not going to let it slip away! How are your summer plans shaping up? Love to you, my dears, from Paris 💕💕💕
Never enough, right? ☺️💕 Well, my friends, it’s been a crazy few weeks but I’m happy to report that Book #12 has now been submitted to my publisher, and on time! 🎉 Release date next spring. 😀 And the first copies of Book #11 arrived this afternoon! It releases next month and I will share the cover and some sneak peeks and preorder info here later this week but if you can’t wait, head over to my journal (link in profile) where I’ve posted the cover and some interior spreads! Whew! And I still managed some early morning trips to the market so have more peony images, if you can bear it. ☺️ 💕 much love and thank you for being here.
Peony season is well upon us and the towering mounds of fresh blooms are overflowing the stalls at the Paris markets! Prices are dropping from the high rates in late April and discounts are offered when you buy multiple bunches, as I tend to do. 😄 I also love to arrive early and watch the vendors skillfully create these impressive displays. In a few hours, they dwindle down but what a sight until then. I list the market schedule in my book Paris in Bloom, but you can’t go wrong with Bastille, President Wilson and Marché Maubert. And I have numerous posts in my journal on Paris peonies (link in my profile) and dozens of prints in my shop and at @aparisianmoment. Enjoy! 💕☺️
Roses at the Jardin du Palais Royal are at their glorious peak this week. A precious time on the annual floral calendar for me, and many others. If you are in the city this week run, don’t walk, to witness this exceptional beauty. I’ve included some long videos so that you can feel like you are walking along the paths. I have so much more to share so we’ll have to do a second post. More in stories also. Thank you so much for being here!
The many shades of lilacs, including blue, pink, yellow, white and mauve, as well as every hue of purple. “Lilacs” is one of my favorite books I’ve done (working on my 12th now) and you can peruse inside it on the last slide here. As always, I am incredibly grateful and appreciative to of all you lovely people who purchase, enjoy and generously share my books. They are all created for you! xx💜💜💜 Details of all my books at the link in my profile. p.s. new titles coming in July and January! ☺️ 📚
Happy May Day! Joyeux Fête du Muguet! A favorite day annually in France. On this day, it is a tradition to present friends and loved ones with a small bouquet of Lily of the Valley as an expression of good fortune and affection. On this day, all over Paris, florists and street vendors sell sprigs, bouquets and potted plants. All around the city, one can witness charming scenes of the flowers being purchased and lovingly presented by people of all ages. Kind volunteers from The Red Cross are also out with their own booths (see stories.) Here are some favorite images taken throughout the years, with bundles cut from our former garden, where it grew wild, and displays on the mantel and my desk here in Paris. Wishing you a day of flowers, love, luck and happiness. 🌿🤍🌱☺️
Just a girl and her 10-year love affair with a tree. ☺️🌸 I may not be as young or skinny but the breathtaking Kwanzan cherry tree at Jardin des Plantes is more magnificent with age. It features in my book Paris in Bloom and has delighted me each year. Merci to @fallingoffbicycles and @stacyreeves for the now “historic” photos of me. 😉 (Tree photos and videos span most of the last decade, including this year.) First week of April is average for peak bloom. 🌸💕
Monthly free download! If you’re on my subscriber list, you’ve already received the image of luscious Acropolis daffodils in your inbox. (If you’re not, there’s still time to sign up at the link in my profile). Much gratitude to the amazing ladies @famflowerfarm for their generosity in taking me to these fields on several beautiful April evenings and to @dutchdaffodils for welcoming me. Featured are Narcissus ‘Acropolis’ and Narcissus ‘Fragrant Rose’, destined for an upcoming project. I hope these give you a taste of being in the beautiful Netherlands at the best time of year. ☺️💛
Memories from last week’s magical journey to The Netherlands for a new project. ☺️💛 Thank you so much to @passionfortulips for taking me to these golden fields of daffodils and to @cakeatelieramsterdam for bringing us together. And to @fallingoffbicycles, my fellow flower seeker.
The most intensely-hued blooms in Paris at the moment are the dramatic Mediterranean Redbud trees (also known as Judas trees) in The Tuileries. They provide an unmistakable jolt of magenta that can be seen across the garden and even from across the river. They’ve cheerfully brightened up the gloomy days we’ve had recently. Bon week-end!
Cherishing falling petals and raindrops today with my blossom hunting partner @fallingoffbicycles 🌸 We started at Square Gabriel Pierné where the cherry trees are at their peak and ended at a private garden on the outskirts of the city. Merci beaucoup Julia for the photos and videos. I am rarely in front of the camera, so am happy to have this lovely day captured.
if you are in Paris this week, the blossoms are at their peak. I list quite a few locations in my book Paris in Bloom.
(Umbrella @businessandpleasure_co a gift from @fallingoffbicycles for my birthday.
Coat @blaireadiebee Atlantic-Pacific x Halogen for @nordstrom from a few seasons ago.)
A few days away from peak, the Kwanzan cherry trees at Square Gabriel Pierné are looking gorgeous. This sweet square, where the stone benches are shaped like open books, can be a haven of calm in the early morning. Here, some peaceful scenes from today and recent years.
Monthly Download! I was asked to share stills from the Petit Palais Courtyard cherry trees (after the recent reel). And decided to offer the first image here as my monthly download for all my subscribers. They have already received it in their inboxes as a digital download to print for their homes. And you can, too! Just sign up at the link in my profile and I’ll send it out to you! I hope you enjoy it. 💕🌸 xx
White Star Magnolia blossoms, touched with gold from the setting sun. Find these bashful beauties, with their delicate shell-pink buds, at the northeast end of Pont Neuf. (Magnolia étoilé in French). Happy First Week of Spring!
A loving look at the rich pink magnolias at Jardin du Palais Royal. As fleeting as they are wondrous, each year they herald spring’s welcome arrival in Paris. Wishing you all the joys of spring! 🌸💕
Magnolias at the Eiffel Tower 💕 Sharing here for everyone, even if you are in Paris, as this beautiful tree is currently behind a barrier (part of the preps for the Olympics at Champ de Mars). These are scenes from previous years. 🌸🌸🌸
Cherry trees at the Petit Palais. In spite of our continuing rain, blossoms are making a valiant appearance. And framed with gorgeous Parisian architecture, create a perfect pairing. Visit this magnificent free museum and make your way to the courtyard to take in this fleeting spring display. In book news, my next title has been turned over to my publisher (cover reveal coming soon!) and I am well into the next one – a celebration of cheerful spring beauties that I adore. Will be out in the fields of Cornwall and The Netherlands very soon! Bon week-end! xx💕
I’d love to say it’s spring weather in Paris however, this is my reality today. But, never complaining because yes, this city just might be most beautiful in the rain 🌧️ Hope you fellow pluviophiles enjoy!
