Five years ago today, we took possession of our beautiful apartment in Paris. And yes, it has been a dream come true and a promise fulfilled. I can honestly say that for me, in a lifetime of many grand adventures, living full time in Paris has been the grandest of all.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll share a bit more – how we came to be here, what our life is like, maybe some before and afters. We are often told “you are so lucky”, and we certainly are lucky and extremely grateful everyday. And of course, one makes their own luck – our move here was the culmination of years of persistence, overcoming obstacles and working steadily to achieve our vision. When I tell you that we moved here in the middle of Brexit and the pandemic, you’ll get an idea of our determination!

I am about one third of the way through writing a book about what brought me here, beginning with a first visit in my teens and many subsequent serendipitous occurrences which led me to live, not only in this neighborhood, but on this very street. It’s a pretty good story, and one which I’ll tell you more about later in the year.

But in the meantime, I will soon launch my newest and biggest book, Beautiful Blooms, which you’ll hear a LOT about, starting next week.

We are so grateful to each of you who have followed along for many years. In everything we do, we endeavor to bring you joy and beauty.

(David is currently on a month-long solo photo expedition to Bhutan, his fourth visit there. It’s a country he loves passionately and by now has many local friends who have welcomed him and are helping him access remote areas that are not commonly open to visitors. After this trip, he will be completing his book on this most magical land.)

Bonjour! Scenes from Square Gabriel-Pierné, taken yesterday and in previous years. 🌸🌸🌸 We are always asked when to come to see the spring blossoms in Paris. It is becoming more and more unpredictable, but I can say with certainty that this year, you should come this week! The cherry blossoms seem to be 10 days to two weeks ahead of schedule. This lovely park in the 6th arrondissement has a sweet grove of trees, which are at their peak at this moment. The trees at Jardin des Plantes and elsewhere are a day or two behind. However, we had a very windy, rainy, hail-filled day today. The cool evenings will keep the blossoms fresh, but the wind is not ideal. So, if you are in the city, this is the time to go on a blossom hunt. I will post more in the next day or so on where everything stands. xx🌸💕

Bonjour! Here is your annual immersion in the beautiful pink magnolias at Palais Royal. If you are in Paris right now, head over there tomorrow because they are already starting to fall. The weather is freakishly warm and the blossoms are fading more rapidly than usual. But they are as beautiful as ever and the evenings are warm and delightful for strolling among the scented beauty.💕🌸
