Taken yesterday in Oregon
This past weekend I took my Mum (Marianna) on a road trip to Salem, Oregon to visit her 96-year-old cousin. We timed the trip so that we could also visit Schreiner’s Iris Gardens while the irises were blooming. Marianna was so excited – she’s been wanting to visit this place for years.
It worked out perfectly. We arrived at the gardens mid-afternoon and were amazed and awed at the incredible display, not only of irises, but poppies, allium, columbine, lupine, and so much more. We enjoyed every second, even though it got quite hot. We visited with Mum’s cousin that evening and again the following morning, but in between (about 6:30 am), I got up and drove back to the garden. I HAD to shoot it with the early morning light! I’m so glad I did.
On the way back to Seattle, we stopped there AGAIN so she could experience another floral sensory overload, burying her face in irises, exclaiming over all the different colors and soaking up every visual delight.
We had a spectacular drive back – crystal clear skies with Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier looming enormously and providing jaw dropping views.
A very successful and joyful trip. Hope the photos communicate some of the magic.
