Inspired by my yellow David Austin rose ‘Graham Thomas’, who, at this moment, as October blusters to a chilly end, is bursting with dozens of new buds.
I’m not fond of the screeching, bullying ways of our sassy Blue Jays. But even I cannot deny their astonishing beauty.
Our recent days of golden sun and intense blue skies have bowed off the autumn stage. But Graham’s incandescent blooms still brighten our office window sills and we more than appreciate the abundance of this mighty rose.
Our trees are just beginning their autumn performance, so I offer this last taste of sun and sky, a prelude to the warmth of a golden fire, cherished old volumes and the coming coolness of the season.
I hope this finds each of you recharged from a weekend of satisfying creative pursuits and I wish you a new week of adventures that are even better than you imagine!
Thank you so much for your visits and comments – each one is a treasure to me.

So lovely! I adore those blue jay's as well – even when they mess all over the front walk! I don't see them often though… That yellow rose you captured is spectacular!!
Beautiful pictures almost poetic feeling:)
Thank you
Beautiful!! I always look forward to your new posts, you are an awesome photographer!!
What a fantastically beautiful post G!! I love the 2 colors together!!
And your description of the blue jays…too funny, but oh so true. They certainly chase the squirrels around in my yard!
Oh… I could almost smell the rose's fragrance! We don't have blue jays here and you know…I really miss them! When I was a little girl, I remember seeing (and hearing them) playing in the twin oak tree outside my bedroom window (Richmond, Virginia). And what a treasure for my box of treasures when I found one of their feathers on the ground! Combined with the cardinal's red… now there was a color combination! But blue and gold… something about it that touches that wanting place in our soul… Thanks for these lovely photos! A nice way to start the week.

Bonjour Georgianna, I love that dark blue with gold! There's something so elegant and quietly festive about that colour combination. No need for me to tell you that the photos are (as usual) stunning, you know I think that ;-) Have a lovely week. Love from London xo
Dearest sweet g, such beautiful photos of gold and blue. These gorgeous colors do go so well together! Your yellow roses are soooo sooo sweet and i really adore that sweet colorful vase {3rd set of photos}. I hope you had a beautiful weekend! Have a lovely merry happy week and love to yoU!
How incredibly gorgeous these beauties are! Such a lovely, lovely post my friend. ♥
Now I must add that rose to my wish list! How amazing that it is still going. I have a soft spot for yellow roses, with one that clambered up against the white walls of Granny's house. In fact when I walked by the other week there was still a rose in the same place, I like to think it was the same beauty that we so cherished. We had a cold wet weekend full of hail!! But I snuggled down, reading my Country Living magazine and doing some sewing. Today I'm starting on a new Bear, phew it's been busy lately. Have a lovely week, C X
you are a poet !
Dear Georgianna, these photos are absolutely beautiful & stunning!! I love the colour combo & the decorative patterns. Thank you for inspiring me this evening! Wini xo
Beautifully paired; fine books and favorite roses. Outstanding photography and always so original. It is always such a treat to see one of your new posts.
By the way Georgianna, I have a little hand painted bowl from Italy that matches one of your pitchers (the colorful one with polka dots in the background). I would love to send it to you.
Hi Georgianna,
Your Graham Thomas is beautiful every(creative) way you look at it! I love the heart shaped blue vase.
Take care,
Carolyn
Hi G, Beautiful pictures, they are always an inspiration to me to try something new. Thank you and take care. hugs Jen
beautiful combo!

I'm giving away a $45 gift card @ Lilac and Grey-Come on over & enter!!
Breathtakingly gorgeous!! Love the yellow and blue together. Thanks for the inspiration.
ahhh…both of my schools' colors! Love the combo and feeling here (and I want the blue/black feather !) I often try to arrange my photos by colors, but it's mainly haphazard for me; so it's nice to get an inspiration here. (PS–thanks…and it must have been to be a teenager there!)
I've always loved the yellow and blue pairing, especially when the blue is more of a teal color, like in the Pope's Poems book. The cover of that book is art in itself.
Lovely inspiration to start off my week,
Debi
delicious! what a lovely collage of sun and sky colors………perfect vignettes of beauty to start off this lovely fall week. what's up with those blue jays anyway? it's a good thing they are so beautifully blue or i would not tolerate them at all.
thank you for this stunning post,
erin
I swear, if you ever want a second career, you could become a stylist. Oh my!
Not just photography but works of art, I thoroughly enjoyed your blue and gold theme today Georgianna.
Hi Georgianna,
Pure poetry!
Why is it that some people don't like yellow when it can look this gorgeous!
Varm regards,
Ingrid xx
One of my very favorite color combinations, and these are so beautifully done!
I have always been a blue and yellow fan but much prefer the idea of gold.
These colours are timesless and very present where I am at the moment in the South of France in Provence.

Beautiful photos, G.! These colours are so beautiful together. xo
Oh, how beautiful!!! I love your use of those pretty papers, and the antique books, and the blue jay feather… such a gorgeous collection of images, G! Again, you are my inspiration! :)
I'm still not getting your posts for whatever reason :( Wish there was a way that I could sign up and have them emailed to me! Just know that if I don't write, it's not because I don't care, but most likely that I didn't know there was something new. I really do enjoy your posts! I can sit here and droll all over the computer screen LOL There is so much eye candy here I don't know what to do with myself! LOVE the golden leaves post and the apples and I LOVE the books and jars in this post too! I collect antique books and jars. I love the mason jars especially the colored ones but mostly I get small ones like ink bottles and medicine bottles and any other ones that look small and unique. I also have jeweled perfume bottles too! I think you've inspired me to take some macro shots of them so thank you! :)

you know why i love this!??! these are the colors of my alma mater, michigan!!! :D stunning G!!
I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of blue, but those pictures make me want to do a room in it!!!
Dearest g, just came by to let you know that i saw your sweet calender up on etsy frontpage! How exciting! Love to you!
Gorgeous photos and well designed vignettes! Thank you for your lovely comments on my art & photo sites. Have an artistic week.
Oh G, this yellow and navy combination almost makes me swoon, it makes that colourloving part of me so very happy lol. What a pretty post, I love the delicate flower patterns that you have mixed in with the rose and feather. Any my, what a feather, we don't have bluejays here in Ireland, but if that feather is anything to go by they sure must be beautiful to look at. And how lovely that you have one last rose bush in flower at this time of year :) I think that our seasons must be rushing in ahead of yours as we are well into autumn and long dark evenings already. I'm looking forward to seeing your garden in it's autumn transformation over the next couple of weeks!
Stunning photos G – the first one includes my favourite things – books, flowers and birds all represented in complementary colours.

Oh, how royal! Gold and blue are divine together. Delicious post my dear — love the care and time you spend on setting up your photos. Wonderful. :)
What an absolutely magnificent post!! I love the way you style your photographs, the way you bring colours together & then add subtle design as a beautiful layer to it. Yor work is a complete joy to behold. I think these will go into my styling references folder along with a lot of Ms.Shewring's work.
Oh blessed me, you have outdone yourself with these Georgianna! Stunning, beautiful, evocative hues… I am so in love with this!
