I’m not a big fan of orange – for me almost none goes a very long way – but I couldn’t let October pass without tipping my hat to one of my favorite autumn destinations. These stunning paintings and beautiful displays are the work of artist and farmer Eddie Gordon, of Gordon Skagit Farm in the Skagit Valley, about an hour north of where I live.
Dozens of types of heirloom pumpkins for sale, a corn maze, apple cider, a beautiful farm and a welcoming autumn adventure all in the gorgeous Washington countryside. The farm is open through this weekend so if you are in the area, it is well worth a visit.
In other news, huge thanks to the wonderful Holly at Decor 8 for including my 2010 Roses Calendar in her annual calendar round up this week! And thank you to dear Jacqueline for letting me know the calendar also made the front page of Etsy a few days prior.

I'm not sure what's happening to me but recently I've started liking shades of orange and yellow. This is just a gorgeous autumn post. I love the place and the vintage atmosphere that you have captured so beautifully. :) Your rose calender is simply stunning, I'm not surprised it made it to the front page. Have a lovely weekend and Halloween! xoxo

I must admit that I am not a big fan of orange either, but your photos of pumpkins are great. I've never seen a pumpkin growing in Finland, but it's funny that the halloween decor with pumpkins (ceramic etc.) has found its way here too.

I know what you mean about orange. I've begun to appreciate it small doses now :)
But who can't appreciate the orange of a pumpkin or an autumn landscape?
Great photos :)

I think because I got into gardening at the height of the English Cottage Garden craze, I've never been a big fan of orange either. But these are wonderfully evocative of the season, G. Thanks for taking us on the tour — it looks like a great place to visit!
And congrats on the calendar awards! It is such a beautiful calendar, that I'm not at all surprised to see it gaining fame. :)

Great job – these are lovely. I didn't make it to a farm this year but did make it to Emery's Garden Center again – great displays and such fun to take pictures among their gorgeous color!

Thank you so much, everyone! I'm amazed that Halloween is catching on all over the world. Jutta, that is so funny that you have gotten plastic pumpkins but not real ones. And David's nieces and nephews in Chile are celebrating it now, too. Makes me wonder what we are exporting to the world. yikes!
Gina – thank you! Can't wait to see it.
Thank you all again for your supportive comments. Happy Halloween!

As a florist – orange was never one of my colours I was and am drawn to in an arrangement or bouquet – but it goes tremendously in contrast – I love it with PINK and Purple! Who would have thought. The pumpkins so look lovely together and or so festive! x

Well, I love the berries and the stacked pumpkins! That is a cute idea. I like orange in nature. Berries, pumpkins, leaves, fruits, etc. But not to wear. :)

I hope you had (or having?) great Halloween celebration!

Congrats on the Etsy front page. How wonderful!! I love those murals and am so glad to "discover" a new artist. His folk art feel reminds me somehow of Edward Hopper, whom I love. Thanks for this.
