It was a sunshine, lollipops and rainbows kind of day here in Seattle today! The garden is looking sparkly and smart as we spent much of the day tidying, weeding and sprucing.
These are tulips D brought from one of his trips to The Netherlands last fall that I planted in the woodland garden.
Plus bluebells, apple blossoms, azaleas, rhododendrons, trillium and still lots and lots of narcissus. Oh, and today I saw the first columbines about to bloom. :)
Thank you for all your wonderful comments on my last post – I did get them all via email even though Blogger lost half of them here.
(And now I see Blogger has published THIS post before I was finished with it. Oh, dear.)
So, I’ll leave you with wishes for a weekend that’s brighter than a lucky penny and filled with everything that’s wonderful.
xoxo – g
p. s. These were all shot with my magnificent Nikon 105mm macro, very shallow depth of field and purposely a bit overexposed. No time for processing, just posting as shot. xoxo

Beautiful shots. Love the dark purple/black tulip, it looks like the new ones I planted last fall. It was a sunny day here as well, spent the morning laying in the wet grass taking pictures. A perfect day!!! Take care, Jen.

I love the 105mm. I have the 60mm but oh my ~ these are just yummy.
Lavender Cottage says
Hi G
I smiled when I read Jen's comment, she's always lying in the dirt or grass to get her photos. :-) Not me, I don't like to get dirty.
Tulip pops – maybe you've coined a new floral term. I see on your sidebar you've read Diana's Global Forest. What an amazing woman she is; we had her as our featured guest last year when our district hosted the Ontario Horticultural convention.
Your photos are very sparkly, thanks for sharing them.

Oh so beautiful as always. I have a question for you though. I can't be certain but did you change your blog header recently? I don't recall ever seeing that typewriter photo before. It's too tiny for me to see very well, do you have a larger version of it somewhere that I can see? I might like to order that one from you! :)
~Jen
Georgianna says
Thank you, friends!
Judith, The Global Forest is an incredible book. A must read, I believe.
Jen, good spotting! Yes, I changed the header a week or two ago. The typewriter photo is one of a series which I've been saving for a certain blog post which I never seem to get time to write. BUT, I'll send you a jpg so you can see it. Thanks!

Your tulips are "stars" in your spring garden–maybe that is why are so sparkly. Can't wait to see how your garden develops through the summer.

Beautiful tulips! We have the Tulip Festival going on here; large tulip beds are planted in major city parks. Although I love them best when they are mixed with other flowers, as you've done here, it makes them really stand out.

Oh my, your photos are just beautiful! I love the pretty little space you have created over here. I saw you at Jacqueline's and thought I'd come over and visit.

Hello G, another beautiful post, you make me long so much to see your garden. These tulips are divine, I love how they come in so many different colours, nice work D picking them up for you on the other side of the world! Our weather really has been terrible lately, so it's delightful to see this patch of sunshine here on your blog :) You make me really want to get a macro lens, I think it will have to be my next big purchase!
Sarah says
So beautifully sparkly indeed, G! :) How've you been lovely?
These images are gorgeous. Tulips do look like lollipops! Never did notice that.
Do you remember a time when I was wanting to master the art of taking pretty bokehs? Now that I've sorta mastered it, I can't get enough of 'em. They're too beautiful! :)
I hope you've been more than fine, G. Hope you had a beautiful weekend yourself. Much love. x

Lovely tulips. I don't think they do well in our area, but it makes me want to double check when I view the images of yours. I have had a bunch of problems with my blogs and Blogger since the crash, even lost a new one I was working on. Grr, any how xx fingers crossed all things will settle down with it. Have a happy and lovely long weekend ahead. Theresa

It's always so hard for me to put in words the response I have to your pictures. Breathtaking, as always!
I definitely need to invest in a macro lens. I took some "garden" pics myself today you can check out on my FB page if you have time. Wish you had been with me for a training session, but I was pleased with most of my shots.
I've been watching the series "The Killing" which was filmed in Seattle … glad to see these "shiny" pictures as I'm seeing rainy scenes nearly every episode.
