I’m late posting these for Remembrance Day, I apologize. But truthfully, what is observed on November 11 should not be relegated to a single day, a sentiment I know we all share.
D and I photographed these fields on a rural drive in France last June. How fitting that we were in the peaceful and beautiful countryside of Normandy.

Oh Georgianna…this is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing them with us. I've shown them to my husband so we've now the added poppy fields in Normandy to the list of places we will be visiting!
And you're absolutely right, any day and every day is a good day for remembering.

I once stayed with a lady in England who loved Poppies; even named her dog Poppy! They're gorgeous and I see now why she loved them so!
Have a blessed day!

What a find–a field full of poppies to photograph! I bet you've had to climb a fence or two in your lifetime to capture a great shot, or at least jump a ditch!
So many people in London wearing poppies this week–it's a nice thing to see.

Oh my goodness, that sight must have literally taken your breath away! What beautiful images, and a poignant reminder of the sacrifices of so many.
Have a wonderful week, dear g! xoxo

Lavender Cottage says
Hi G
I've seen photos of fields of daffodils, tulips and lavender but none were as beautiful as this vision of poppies as far as the eye can see.
It must be the red, and emotional significance attached to the poppies.
Thanks for the reminder that we should remember every day.
Judith

So beautiful! There are poppies here during summertime, spread along roads and fields, but never a field full of them like that.
Poppies as far as you can look, wow, must have been breathtaking to be there!
Poppies, so very much the symbol of Remembrance. I didn't make a post on it now but have made several posts on it on different dates. In our street alone there's two graveyards with victims of the first worldwar, as there are so many scattered all over, I pass those green with white border signs every day, each pointing you to another graveyard with its very own name. I will never get used to it and Remembrance is so very present every single day here. So strange to think that where we now live was once such a battlefield and so many men from all over the world gave their lives here. It can never ever be forgotten. Even now it still takes a victim from time to time. A farmer always has to be aware there is still so much amunition burried under the soil here.
Bye,
Marian

Georgianna..living here in Texas, we don't get the kind of flowers you get up there.
Your images are beyond delightful.
Such thought has been put into each one of your images. You have inspired me..but I will have to wait now until probably March before I can start photographing florals outdoors again, expcept for maybe pansies.
So happy I found you…please come by and see my Delightful Clutter and florals too.
I have joined your blog…don't want to miss anything.

Hi dear! I am so impressed with this photo. It is a rich history, that of the poppy. I am so saddened and yet, also renewed by the metaphor from the first world war. I must say, you are an angel. Blessings and thanks for just being you.

You know, last night I had a dream about you… i dreamt that someone was showing me pictures of flowers and I said, "I know Georgianna Lane. She is the best photographer in the world of gardens and flowers and pretty places around the world." And then I took this person to your website. Very beautiful poppies in Normandy. I'm so proud of my dad for serving in World War II, along with the rest of his generation, and all the other service men and women that make such sacrifices for our freedom. Definitely something to be thankful for!
