Recently I attended the Chelsea Flower Show in London and thought you’d enjoy have a little tour. The weather was beautiful and in many years of attending the show, I’ve never known it to rain. Entering the grounds you see The Great Pavilion which houses all the main displays. The competition show gardens are all outside and you pass them first, as well as a long double avenue of pretty stands selling everything from garden books to botanical lotions to tools and equipment.
Some of the pretty stands, all selling garden and floral themed goods.
Below, a refreshment truck all decked out for the show.
Inside the Pavilion a vast expanse of floral displays takes your breath away.
My favorite display is always at David Austin Roses. This year, they won their 25th Gold Medal!
The display was teeming with luscious, fragrant roses.
They introduced two new roses: Eustacia Vye (above) and Gabriel Oak (below).
This was also the first show since Mr. Austin’s passing. A beautiful and moving four-panel tribute was set up in the center of The Great Pavilion, highlighting his tremendous accomplishments and contributions to horticulture. His roses have enhanced and brought beauty to so many people’s lives.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the tour. Next year I’ll be in London again in the spring – for the release of London in Bloom!
