Bonjour! Here is a tribute to the beautiful grove of cherry trees at the base of Notre Dame Cathedral. Since the fire, the trees have been partially obscured from view by a construction barrier but they are still blooming each year and it’s possible to catch a glimpse of them from across the river. I compiled this retrospective from many happy years of photographing them in previous years. Some images you may recognize from my book, Paris in Bloom, or from the shop, where several are available as prints. I hope you enjoy this fond look back and share with me all positive wishes for the future restoration of the Cathedral and grounds so that all may experience the beauty once again.

These images are just lovely. I was in Paris the day the cathedral was on fire. So nice to see how life and beauty continues around such a great monument. Thank you for sharing.

Wonderful romantic Paris !
“Que diras-tu ce soir, pauvre âme solitaire,
Que diras-tu, mon coeur, coeur autrefois flétri,
À la très belle, à la très bonne, à la très chère,
Dont le regard divin t’a soudain refleuri…?”
“I never knew the charm of spring
I never met it face to face
I never knew my heart could sing
I never missed a warm embrace
Till April in Paris…”
