An Eventful Weekend

Oh, my, what a whirlwind week! As most of you know, my show was on Saturday and I’m delighted to report that it was a resounding success and so much fun! I posted a few photos on Facebook already but wanted to share them with everyone here to thank you for your encouraging messages and well wishes.

The theme of the event was “Springtime in Paris” and you can imagine we so enjoyed planning and carrying it out. Above is a new image I released at the show, “Paris Above the Clouds“.

The venue was Faded Elegance, my favorite vintage shop (written about here) in Snohomish, Washington, a charming Victorian town filled with the best antique and vintage shops in the state. Our color scheme was black and white stripes with pink accents, and Kimberly McIlrath, the owner (below with me), created the most beautiful awnings and displays for the windows, garnished with pink balloons. I designed many new pendants just for the event, including the Paris Metro one below, and we had a giveaway drawing of one of my prints, a canvas and some postcards.

Below, two more of the new images I released at the show.
Below, the entrance to the store and the first of my displays. I had four different pendant displays, and for this one, Kimberly designed a macaron vignette complete with the cutest macaron trinket boxes. Another display featured my images and pendants from Monet’s Garden. The pendants were a very popular item.

And another new image, “Evening at Notre Dame”.
Below, the entrance to my show area. Honestly, half the fun of this event was having the run of the store after hours and my choice of Kimberly’s stunning merchandise with which to create displays!
More displays of my work. We had a slideshow of Paris images playing continuously in the back at right.

I’d like to extend my gratitude to Kimberly for her enthusiasm and work in creating a beautiful and flawless event; to all my friends and family who came out for the festivities; and to my existing and new clients who embraced and supported my work. Each of you are very much appreciated. And special thanks to D for keeping me {relatively} sane throughout the preps, engineering the slide show and coming up with brilliant solutions for many of the displays. Who knew you were a merchandising genius? :)

Often we launch ourselves into a new activity with no real insight into how it will turn out, don’t we? It may seem like a wonderful idea at the outset but midway through, we might be staggering up in the morning, biting our nails and wondering what on earth we’ve gotten ourselves into. It can be very nerve wracking, can’t it? But in this case, the hard work and late nights were so worth it. I wouldn’t have changed anything. We even had blue skies and sunshine!

Much more news but we’ll leave that for a bit later as I’ve taken enough of your time now. In the meantime, a selection of the new prints and pendants are in the shop.

And you’ll find a new post at Paris By Two with a link to many, many more Paris images!

Wishing you sunshine and blue skies. A bientôt!
