January 1st seems to be a day that, more than many others, one tries to capture and hold onto and above all, make the very most of, for its passing is significant and how you spend that day, and what you project for the coming days, stays with you all the year. Resolutions, plans, ideas, postulates, dreams and hopes are polished up, sprinkled newly with good wishes and sent on their way out into the universe. Although, for most, including us, it is a languid day physically, I expect few let the day slip into its early darkness without such attention.
I mentioned yesterday the blue moon appearing for the last day of the year. Does it truly make the day empowered with celestial goodness? Well, no, not really. But it’s rarity makes it a bit more special and interesting, doesn’t it?
At any rate, I was quite looking forward to seeing it last night. However, I worried that I wouldn’t be able to at all. We’d had rain in the evening, but shortly past midnight, after we’d shared a toast and D had gone up to bed, I was turning off the kitchen lights and suddenly saw through the skylight that the clouds were parting and the moon was shining brightly! A ha! A benediction on the new year!
I ran upstairs to let D know I wouldn’t be there for a bit – I had to go see the moon! He understands and indulges these quirks of mine, and does appreciate and enjoy various celestial phenomena, but there is a point where he’s done and craves the cozy bed. So, he sent me on my way and I tiptoed out into the garden and stood for some time.

My office is cluttered with unfinished projects…mainly, because I change my mind so often…It used to bother me…now I am accustomed to my habits and am learning to embrace them for what they are…"my special way of doing things". I am contstantly inspired by those I watch in blogland. Thank you! smiles.

I do find there is much unfinished, projects, closets full to the brim, all things needing clearing with life bursting. But, I think for some of us, you definitely, the important things come to light and become part of us. Organizing my blanket closet does not fall into those things, hee hee. Your title banner and the whole blog mood is simply divine. Congrats on the Beauty and the moon.

what a lovely photo, a patch of sunlight to start the new year with :) and a lovely passage about the blue moon, your writing is just as great as your photography.
i hope your resolution works out for you, i'm making a similar one about not cutting corners anymore, that is getting things finished properly and not rushing through so many things in my life!

Oh, my, I'm so behind in responding. I apologize, because your visits and comments really brighten my day and mean so much. I never take them for granted!
Jessica – I wish all the same for you in abundance, my friend. You are so thoughtful and generous in your words and your ebullient spirit.
Ellen – I think it's very important to embrace the way one does things and not try to conform. Easy to say, but ultimately the way to serenity and happiness, yes?
And as dear Amy says, you are the author of your own happy ending! Thank you, Amy, for your sweet words. I guess closets have doors for a reason!
É, I'm sure you will have a fabulous year, so many beautiful creations and…a wedding!
xoxo to all
