There’s just something…
On Boxing Day (Dec 26), we went downtown for our annual photos of the carousel and holiday lights. Sparkly, magic delight!
Although I don’t have a huge wish list of “things” to acquire in life, one day I hope to own a vintage carousel horse, even a small one – I just adore them.
Carousel trivia: Carousel horses in America travel counter clockwise (originally enabling the rider to grab “the brass ring” with their right hand) while horses on English carousels travel clockwise, so riders could mount properly, left foot in stirrup first.
(It was only after preparing these images and posting them tonight that I looked back and discovered that I’d also posted a carousel horse in 2009 on this very day, January 3rd. Hmmm… I guess it’s becoming a tradition?)

Oh, I have a thing for carousels, too. I absolutely adore them, and could show you a journal I wrote when I was 16 about wanting to own my own old carousel horse – or swan. I have to tell you, the light blur of the top image makes me extremely happy.
Georgianna says
Jessica – thank you so much, dear. They really bring back fabulous childhood memories, don't they?
Relyn, how neat that you adore them, too! I would love to see your journal about owning a carousel horse. Or a swan! What a good idea! I'm really pleased the image makes you extremely happy. That makes ME extremely happy! :) – g
