(Perhaps you already saw this on Flickr, but I hadn’t posted it here, so here it is. :)
Another of my David Austin roses from last summer, with the polyantha rose, The Lovely Fairy, in the background. The original image is rather saturated but didn’t seem quite the right message for now. I feel gently drawn toward a neutral palette for these brief January days. Snow has not made an appearance at Hillhaven this year, in fact it’s warmer than normal – over 50 degrees – but mid winter’s pale pensiveness has descended nevertheless.
Do you feel it, too?

Oh, these flowers are so gorgeous and you've captured them in a wonderful way. The roses look a lot like peonies I think, which are my favourite flowers :)

Beautiful and magnificent blooms. I love the pale coloring, very soft and delicate.

hey georgianna! i favorite-d this photo on flickr. so glad you posted it up. :) love this photo so much! the colors are so lovely. wished i had such beautiful roses where i lived. even if they do, it's very rare.
in malaysia (where i live, in asia) is always hot and humid. it rains quite a lot but yupp, no snow at all. i'd love for snow to fall one day though. :))
p/s: i wished i could just pick the roses out from your photo! xx

Soft, lovely, serene. I have David Austin's in my garden but they look nothing as beautiful as these!!!
We've had so very little snow here in Toronto and yet it's been mostly dull and grey this January…seeing this pale, soft palette makes that grey seem washed away.

I tried forever last night to comment, but blogger was acting weird! Anyway…this could possible become one of my fave photos ever, unbelievably gorgeous!!
I just love the processing on this one!

Thank you so much, everyone, for your lovely comments. I will do my best to answer you individually but hope you don't mind a group answer here, too. It was a busy day! :) – g
Moa, you're right, they do resemble peonies! I love those, too, but only have one!
Cindy, it's good to think about summer, isn't it? I think right now we're warmer than you are in Florida, wow.
Sarah, as I commented over at your place, I will do my best to keep you well supplied with rose photos. :)
Sherry, yes, I had heard that Toronto had very little snow so far. The gray days do get monotonous – I'm glad if this helped improve that.
Hi Sylvia, oh, I have no idea what happened with blogger except that it does act weird sometimes. Sorry you had trouble but thank you for persisting and your sweet comment.
Sarah Ann, thank you! :) I guess you are having about as much rain as we are!
xoxo

David Austins are my absolute fave! Are these from your garden??
Amazing and touching with sweetness and warmth on these cold days.

Yes, Amy, these are from my garden! They are my faves, too! I am about to order some more bare root roses from David Austin. The hard part is deciding which ones! xoxo – g
