I love photographing dahlias, for their fabulous form and colors. These dinner-plate sized beauties, “Cafe au Lait”, were grown by Erin and were among the bounty she bestowed upon me last week. Like ruffled, fairy petticoats – gorgeous!
Wishing you all a weekend as joyful as these blooms and thank you again for your lovely comments on my last post.
I’ll be busy preparing several big new releases for early in the week. Can’t wait to show you!
with love,
g
p.s. Clear skies above – celebrating tonight’s Blue Moon with a wave and a wink for Neil Armstrong. The stars beckon and remind us of bigger adventures ahead.

Wow! These are stunning and you have photographed them beautifully, both singularly and as a group. Looking forward to hearing more of your news…

G’ these pictures are amazing…the perfect way to begin the holiday weekend!
Like ruffled petticoats, indeed! The softness of the colors is mesmerizing!
Very, very beautiful! =)
I have to smile because I literally gasp out loud while looking at your photos – it happens every time! :) Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful flower photos – I can’t imagine them being as big as a plate! That’s fantastic…they are truly stunning. Have a wonderful weekend!
Stunning G! You had perfect, and pretty specimens to work with.
I’m wanting to know about the backdrop with the different pink patterns – a homemade prop? I like it!
Judith
Hi Judith, Yes, the background is a home made prop. I was using an old window for a backdrop but it was too reflective. I grabbed some scrapbooking paper which just barely fit each pane and taped it in place. Very temporary but got the job done!
Stunning as always. I feel like I say the same thing every time but you manage to always find the most beauitulf flowers and the most beautiful colors. I seriously cannot choose which is my favorite.
Oh my these are stunning and sure look like a painting to me….amazing
Dear Georgianna,
Beautiful in pink, so romantic and indeed like a little fairy petticoat.
Hope you have a beautiful weekend
Hugs
Carolyn
Oh my..! Exceptional captures Georgianna!
Have a nice WE monica
Well, aren’t these just too gorgeous…and I love that sweet windowpane with the delightful pink patterns.
Dahlias to die for! The 1st pic is absolutely stunning! All the details in the petals … Wish you a lovely weekend!
You took the words out of my mouth when you wrote ‘Fairy petticoats’.The first thing I thought when the first picture appeared on my computerscreen. Love, love, LOVE these Dahlias and their faded pink colour as well. Don’t know why they’re called ‘café au lait’…. although there’s a touch of that right in the centre of each flower isn’t there, guess the name just wants us to look better and closer, just like you did and showed us all…. Beautiful! Thank you!
Have a joyful weekend Georgianna.
Marian
O, and I saw the ‘blue moon’. It was the clearest sky and yesterday evening that moon lighted up the whole terrace and kitchen, I didn’t have to turn on the lights even to grab something to drink out of the fridge. I gave that moon a big smile. Looking forward to your new adventures ;-)
Marian
What a fantastic eye you have, and how kind to share these pink treats.
Ohhhh …I love it….simplicity and beauty…
Those could be the most beautiful dahlias ever. Looking forward to next week (to see what you’ve been working on). Have a great weekend! xo

Thank you ~ FlowerLady

They are gorgeous! Dahlias are so intricately made – and the shade of pink is beautiful.
They were made by Gods, were they not? Them and tulips are my favourite flowers!
You seem to make flowers on your pictures look prettier than they are in real life! You are an amazing photographer, dear Georgianna!!!!! :)
I also love dahlias. They are so much of everything – and a little bit more ;-) Your photos are beautiful as well as always.
Wow–I’ve never seen dahlias this gorgeous!
What stunning dahlias . :)
What an amazing color this is, and as always, your photographs are truly so beautiful.
Wishing you a fantastic holiday weekend!
xo.
Wow they are so beautiful, mesmorising!! Thankyou:)
So glad Kate mentioned your post on her blog today. What lovely images to find, but then I always find lovely images here!
Kat
Oh my word…that first image took my breath away! So glad Kate mentioned you in her blog post today… Can’t wait to look around and see more of your gorgeous photos!
The comparison between these inviting, full, beautiful blooms and petticoats has to be the best, most spot on way I’ve heard dahlias described. The next time I slip into my white, cream, or pink crinoline, I shall be thinking of this post – rich with gorgeous floral images – and smiling indeed.

Silken and statuesque in botanical beauty.
adoro estas dalias!!!!
Wow Georgianna,
Your photographs are beautiful. I especially love the last one on the post. The movement and composition looks more like a painting than a photograph. The most magnificent still life.
Karen
Oh Georgianna, these colours are just too beautiful ! Your Dahlias “rock” – mine “rot”….
Hi G,
Beautiful images! I am particularly drawn to the simplicity of the first and the design and color in the last capture.
Oh my stars.. These photos are amazing. Yes they have me smiling at my computer screen.. I do hope you enjoyed your weekend.
Hugs~
I’ve said it before, but you do the most beautiful styling. I want to move in with you and D. I really do. Or, maybe just visit a bed and breakfast you run. (In your spare time, ha.) I’d be a monthly guest. Oh yes, that sounds perfect.
Oh my Goodness, soooooooooo pretty! My heart started beating faster as I saw these pictures. You really know how to catch the flowers dahling ;-D

Wow wow wow. I have never seen a dahlia in person, but boy are they gorgeous. So ruffly and feminine. You have a way with flowers, a style unique to you.
These are absolutely stunning Georgianna!! I’m so happy to see you are putting the beautiful French enamelware pot that you got from my shop to good use!!! Love it! xo.
My favourites too! I hope next year I’ll be able to plant a few, the problem is needing to dig them up in the autumn and store them somewhere suitable… Or just plant new ones every year! :D Loving these so much!
Every time I visit your site I am blown away by the blooms!! In an absolutely good way…breathtaking!

Hi G! It has been a long absence, but things have been a bit hard: father 95, mother almost 91 doing radiotherapy, wife broke right elbow and I’m consuming some much needed holidays to take care of all this…
Lovely shots
As far as Blogtrotter Two is concerned, it seems nobody is interested in St. Kitts, so maybe I should try something else. Anyhow, enjoy and have a great week or better a vacation, if still available!!!
These are beauties…such feminine flowers, all petticoats and frills…with such a delicate pink. Dreamy.
