I love photographing dahlias, for their fabulous form and colors. These dinner-plate sized beauties, “Cafe au Lait”, were grown by Erin and were among the bounty she bestowed upon me last week. Like ruffled, fairy petticoats – gorgeous!
Wishing you all a weekend as joyful as these blooms and thank you again for your lovely comments on my last post.
I’ll be busy preparing several big new releases for early in the week. Can’t wait to show you!
with love,
g

Stunning G! You had perfect, and pretty specimens to work with.
I’m wanting to know about the backdrop with the different pink patterns – a homemade prop? I like it!
Judith
georgianna says
Hi Judith, Yes, the background is a home made prop. I was using an old window for a backdrop but it was too reflective. I grabbed some scrapbooking paper which just barely fit each pane and taped it in place. Very temporary but got the job done!
Danee says
Stunning as always. I feel like I say the same thing every time but you manage to always find the most beauitulf flowers and the most beautiful colors. I seriously cannot choose which is my favorite.

You took the words out of my mouth when you wrote ‘Fairy petticoats’.The first thing I thought when the first picture appeared on my computerscreen. Love, love, LOVE these Dahlias and their faded pink colour as well. Don’t know why they’re called ‘café au lait’…. although there’s a touch of that right in the centre of each flower isn’t there, guess the name just wants us to look better and closer, just like you did and showed us all…. Beautiful! Thank you!
Have a joyful weekend Georgianna.

O, and I saw the ‘blue moon’. It was the clearest sky and yesterday evening that moon lighted up the whole terrace and kitchen, I didn’t have to turn on the lights even to grab something to drink out of the fridge. I gave that moon a big smile. Looking forward to your new adventures ;-)

They were made by Gods, were they not? Them and tulips are my favourite flowers!
You seem to make flowers on your pictures look prettier than they are in real life! You are an amazing photographer, dear Georgianna!!!!! :)

The comparison between these inviting, full, beautiful blooms and petticoats has to be the best, most spot on way I’ve heard dahlias described. The next time I slip into my white, cream, or pink crinoline, I shall be thinking of this post – rich with gorgeous floral images – and smiling indeed.

Hi G! It has been a long absence, but things have been a bit hard: father 95, mother almost 91 doing radiotherapy, wife broke right elbow and I’m consuming some much needed holidays to take care of all this…
Lovely shots
As far as Blogtrotter Two is concerned, it seems nobody is interested in St. Kitts, so maybe I should try something else. Anyhow, enjoy and have a great week or better a vacation, if still available!!!
