Just a small selection of the astonishing variety of costumes and masks being worn by one and all during Carnevale (doggies included). They were photographed over several days, mostly at dawn with soft light reflecting off the water and filling Piazza San Marco. Bleaker weather has now arrived, with rain and wind whipping the decorated tents and creating a less festive atmosphere so we are very happy that we rose before sunrise for these images. Ciao!

Ciao Georgianna carissima, buongiorno <3 !!!
What a charm these images express, these masks are so mysterious, they seem to be coming straight from the Paris of Marie Antoinette !
Congratulations, my dear friend, for the love that you always put in your post, starting from the moments in which you make your fascinating shots !

Hullo Georgianna,
Your Venice images truly capture the magic of Venice.
There is something winsomely beautiful about all your artwork.
I intend to go to Venice next year to shoot.
Do you ever lead workshops , and if not, is there a way you recommend? I am thinking you have ‘to know’ someone to be able to shoot so early – with such beautiful participants.
Thanx for any advice you can give.
Much appreciated.

Hi G ~ You lucky gal! What a marvelous spectacle of color and decoration you are a part of!!! And, your images, truly beyond amazing!!!!!! Since I love textiles and decoration, this looks like heaven to me :)
I had read that photographing during the Carnevale is tricky, as so many tourists and professionals w/ cameras are milling around. Did you pay these folks to pose, or was it just the early hr that found the scenes uncluttered (or both)?
A trip like this is on my bucket list!
