Hello, friends! If you’ve been following me on social media, you’ll know that I’ve spent the entire spring in London, working on my next book, London in Bloom, which is now with my publisher, Abrams Books. Living in London for several months was a joy and a privilege and I was able to capture the entire spring blossom season, from daffodils and magnolias to wisteria and lilacs. Here are a few of the images that didn’t make it into the book. Above and below are Saucer magnolias in my neighborhood of Kensington.
London has by far the most residential wisteria that I’ve seen in any city. “Wisteria hysteria” grabs hold of Londoners, especially photographers, every year in late April. Some of the vines are of historic importance, being over 100 years old. (The above image is a new print in the shop.)
Lavish displays of cherry blossoms adorn beautiful homes all over the city. Especially lovely ones are in Notting Hill, Kensington and Chelsea.
The streets are lined with fragrant blossoms of all kinds, including jasmine, early roses and lilacs.
London in Bloom, the third book of the “Cities in Bloom” trilogy, will be released in March 2020. Until then, I hope you’ve enjoyed this sampler of spring in London!
