In early September, a friend and I spent a magical evening at the Palace of Versailles to experience their Royal Serenade and Night Fountains Show events. Arriving at the Palace via train from Paris, we were first treated to an opera performance in the magnificent Chapelle Royale, where the acoustics are glorious.
Moving to the breathtaking Hall of Mirrors, the festivities continued with a costumed period music and dance performance. To be in this exquisite setting and enjoy the performers backlit by the setting sun was a truly unforgettable experience.
We then left the Palace and ventured into the gardens for the Night Fountains Show against the stunning sunset sky, followed by fireworks after dark.

The Royal Serenade and Fountain Shows take place throughout the summer into September. They are a joyous and thrilling way to celebrate the long evenings and the unparalleled splendor of Versailles. Very highly recommended!
