The Petit Palais is truly one of the most special locations in Paris. An exceptional museum of magnificent Beaux Arts design and collections, it is also completely free to visit. And it is rarely crowded, so that, on the spur of the moment, one can drop in and view the entire museum or any of the beautiful galleries.
The grand entrance to the museum is breathtaking and in early spring the exterior is enhanced with pink plum trees.
Another wonderful feature of the museum is the cafe inside the peaceful garden courtyard. There, you can enjoy coffee or tea and a light snack in the most aesthetic setting imaginable. Although delightful throughout the year, my favorite time to visit is in March when the early cherry blossoms in the courtyard are blooming.
Delicate blossoms set against magnificent French architecture is, of course, my favorite visual combination and this display is a cherished annual treat.
What could be more enjoyable than to while away an afternoon amongst such splendor?
