On a recent rainy day, I revisited Square Gabriel Pierné, as the cherry blossoms began to fall. Located just a ten minute walk from my apartment, along my route to Pont Neuf and Place Dauphine, the Square is a small oasis of calm tucked behind the Institut de France, whose majestic dome overlooks the square.
Its main feature at this time of year are the Kwanzan cherry trees which transform the already lovely place into a wonderland. I love the benches that are shaped like open books and the small trickling fountain with a statue of Janus.
I also love the domed lampposts which are so Parisian! A friend and I went to take some seasonal photos and I was able to pair my pink coat with the umbrella she got me for my birthday in January.
If you’d like to schedule your visit for cherry blossom season, count on the last week of March through the first week of April. Early mornings are best without crowds.

Some days I think to myself…I want to spend more time in Paris, Paint plain wire and soak up the culture, language, food and more. Maybe you are the one to pave the way for others. I’d like to be your shadow for a day.. or week.
