On a recent May weekend in Paris, the roses at the Jardin du Palais Royal were as luscious as I’ve ever seen them. I’ve written about these roses and this garden previously, and feature them in my book, Paris in Bloom. The Palais Royal remains a very favorite location of mine, one that I return to again and again for its graceful beauty and peacefulness. (The above image is available as a fine art print here.)
On this particular weekend, the air was warm but the skies were unsettled and dramatic, creating wonderful light and a stunning backdrop for the roses and architecture.
The majority of the roses in the main bed are the beautiful pink Pierre de Ronsard, also known as Eden Rose. It is a vigorous climber and produces endless romantic, fragrant blooms. But the garden also features other roses in cream and red.
Even after so many years of being in Paris, and hundreds of visits, the Palais Royal still grabs my heart, every time. I hope you visit when you come to Paris.

Gorgeous photos, always gorgeous when you go around with your camera. Just wow! Eden rose is stunning for sure. I had it in my garden but it didn’t want to stay. I know it’s a typical ‘Garden of Eden’-rose for sure and why you like it so much. The colours are so like all your pretty captures! I really enjoyed this little tour.
