The fleeting light of summer
Months that feel like weeks
Weeks that seem like days
Many are celebrating the first day of autumn.
But the equinox is not officially until 7:09 pm my time this evening. So that is when this post will go live and I will bow, ever so slightly, to autumn. I’m reveling in a beautiful warm day in Seattle, with summer thoughts still drifting through my dreams.
Farewell, fair summer. Hurry back.

i am so sad to see summer gone…..i love autumn and the holidays but i find it very difficult to get from january to may when the first leaf buds arrive on the trees.
here in michigan, it is dark, dank and depressing in the winter. there are some pretty days with the snow but they are few. i am never really happy until mid may when the trees have leafed out, the flowers are in bloom and the weather finally warms up.
i know that your blog will help get me through the ugliness of our winters here. the images of your blooms will surely drag me out of my funk when i look out the window and see nothing but gray blah!!!
thank you georgianna for my little world of summer in your blog.
hugs, cindy

Hi Dear Heart, It's been a long few months, but I think I'm almost "home"! I haven't shot anything in so long I'm about to go bonkers. Soon though I hope. I've missed summer almost completely between packing and house hunting. Now if I can get settled and out with my camera before I miss fall too. Your photos here, and tribute to summer, is gorgeous – just gorgeous!! xoxo
Claudia says
Ah, sweet summer. I miss it already. Ironically, the weather today and tomorrow in the northeast is going to be hot and humid! I think summer is not going down without a fight.

Bye Bye beautiful blooms. See you next summer. Oh how I hate to say goodbye to summer. Your photos are so pastel and soft. Lovely.

Oh I know you're not ready for Summer to be over, but I sure am! ;) It's been brutally hot here in the South, and I'm pretty a pretty wimpy California native! lol
I just love all these beautiful pastel colors and big blooms! You are a master of presentation!
Happy Autumnal Equinox, and here's to new beginnings! :)

Oh so soft and gorgeous! Why do we find it so hard to let go and embrace change…it feels sad to say goodbye to summer and all it brings even knowing what beauty lies ahead in autumn.
Thank you so kindly Georgiana for the gift of your beautiful stamps. I will most certainly use them! I understand what you mean about being a 'negligent' blogger as I'm very much the same. I like to do my own thing and interact where and when I can but don't have the time and energy to get involved with a lot of the things that are offered. I'm also not great at self promotion, which is what so much of blogging is about. That's not a bad thing, it just seems to take too much effort for me!
Peace all-ways, Kate

The little poem is so true:) As I type this here in Italy it is 19.20. so does that mean it is officially Autumn here as well? It still feels like Summer.
Gorgeous photos which really goes without saying.

It's very autumn like here now but your roses keep on cheering me up. So much beauty here (I keep on repeating myself I know but they truly are beautiful and up-lifting). Love that you mixed the roses with some blackberries.
Happy weekend! xoxo

Cheer up G – autumn offers beautiful photos too. Even though you'll miss the pastel shades of the roses you love, you could travel to a warm place where they're still blooming! :-)
I like how you diplayed the ones floating in a bowl, so pretty.

Oh, Georgianna! I was coming here to thank you and I find… I need to thank you twice.
You, my friend, have the sweetest, most loving heart. You are delightful and thoughtful. Thank you for the sweet birthday wishes and for sending your friends my way.
And, oh G! How did you know? Seriously! I have friends who have known me for years and years who have never given me a gift as perfect as the one you sent. Georgianna, it is perfect – all of it. I don't even know where to start. Except, just to say, "I love you. And, I know you love me. I can feel it." Thank you, dear one. Thank you.

I found you through your comment on the "blogging subject" on Claudia's blog. I agree with you wholeheartedly! You said it so well, so I won't leave a response there on the subject. I feel like you spoke for me, too.
I've just joined your followers and will come back for a dose of your beautiful, photographic eye.
No need to reply to me. It won't hurt my feelings if I don't hear back from you. Your post was our communication. ;-)
Blessings,
Donna

Your photos and imagery today is just lovely – Gelati colours don't you think? You are approaching fall and for us the days are getting warmer and there is that feeling in the air – although – I will get my little taste of Fall in a few weeks as I am heading for Europe.
Have a wonderful week. x

Oh Georgianna, I am sighing and gasping at your photos here. What gorgeous pictures of your roses. Don't you love the vibrance of roses in early Fall? The colors just seem to be richer and deeper. My roses are going crazy right now, and I love it.
It is always a true delight coming here for inspiration.
