Hello and warm greetings! Our balmy, sunny autumn has flown with the leaves on strong winds – winds that cleared the skies for a magical view of a glorious, almost-full moon last night. Did you see it? At midnight, looking out from the upper windows, our property appeared as if in near daylight with deep shadows cast by the trees and all else silvered with gleaming light. And the day dawned with ice on the bird baths and a faint threat of snow.
Canals, marvelous architecture, autumn color, and a sweet pup napping in the sun.
When I’m not along on these trips, D always shoots for me the details I love – doors, windows and of course, hearts!
Part of the day was rainy and murky so he processed these images in an antique style which really suits this wonderful city.
In Bruges, two prominent features are chocolate and lace.
As well as beautiful views that haven’t changed in hundreds of years.
I love how he captured the light illuminating these golden statues so that they glow.
Thank you for coming along on the tour. Yes, I admit to bias, but I fell in love with D’s photographs before I ever met him. I hope you’ve enjoyed these as I have. More of his Belgium photos can be seen here and much more of his work can be seen on his website here.
I will return tomorrow with a little early holiday gift for you!

This was a walk down memory lane for me. We lived in Brussels for several years in the 90's, and we would often go to our favorite town of Bruges on day trips. Your husband's photos show off its beauty in a very special way. You'll have to be sure and go with him next time!

What a beautiful place – the top pic is just so very delightful – it would look lovely on a calender. I can understand how painters love this area with the soft reflective light.

Totally glorious, it is wonderful to see Bruges through D's eyes! LOVE the dog sleeping in the window and fabulous how he captured the golden statues in Antwerp. That is one of the parts I love about the city, especially when they glow in the light. I'll have to take some photos around Christmas time with all the lights to share with you too, planning to go to Bruges for a day trip when some family visit near Christmas. Have a good week, stay warm! Catherine x

Sadly did not get to see the full moon last night as the skies are full of heavy rain clouds here.
It was lovely to see some of your husband's work, what a talented couple you make.
I really enjoyed the virtual tour of Bruges, a place we have been told is worth visiting more than once, but have yet to do so.

David took amazing photos G. #2 daughter married a fellow from Belgium (born there was raised here) and since his parents travel back home every year, I am no stranger to the decadent chocolate from that country.
I love old architecture and took in every detail in the pictures – the heart is cute.

G (and D!) this is a gorgeous post. I have seen both Bruges & Antwerp and David has captured their spirt and beauty so well. It's nice to be reminded of the time we spent there :) That was back before I had my camera though! So all my shots were point & shoot or Holga. You would love Bruges for it's doorways, I think it's a place you should definitely see someday if you can! I, of course, loved it for it's chocolate lol.

Oh, Georgianna, I wonder when I will come to these parts of the world! It has been so handsomely captured by your husband. Its amazing such different styles both of you have. There is an amazing brooding quality in some of the pictures, which is quite powerful. Thanx you so much for sharing this beautiful place and David's brilliant photography.

By the way, do you recommend any particular company for Giclee images?
