I hope you are enjoying a fun and joyful week of holiday preparations! Happily, I finished a huge project on Monday, the last of this year, and now have a bit of play time to fling some finery around our place (will post about in a few days.)
Tidying up my files after the big project, I came across these wintery barn images that were begging to be shared.
Two years ago, we had quite a blizzard so D and I ventured up to the farmlands an hour north of our house. The farms lay serene and still – few vehicles disturbed the pale peace of the day and a cool, clear sky sent twinkling lights dancing across the hushed snow of the fields.
We felt transported by the views to a country wonderland, a real-life vintage postcard, nostalgic scenes of a timeless way of life.
The Skagit Valley, a beautiful place in any season! I love driving thru there!! But you were brave venturing out in that snow.
I stayed holed up in my house!!!!
Oh I forgot to say I can't wait to see your Christmas home!
So beautiful and peaceful! I miss that! Thank you so much for sharing those! Have a wonderful rest of the week and Happy Holidays to you!
Brenda
LOVE the snow! I have been so wishing for some lately but we haven't had hardly a drop :( I tell you when it does snow, I'm going out for a walk in it with the kids :) Thank you for sharing your photos, they always put a smile on my face and inspiration in my heart. The barns just look so peaceful and serene covered in white. Love it! Thank you :)
These barns look somehow so romantic. I love how snow makes everything looks so peaceful and serene.
Looking forward to your holiday preparations :)

These are just wonderful – just as farmland scenes are meant to look – at least in our imagination. Amazing that they are real!!

Hi G
I'm glad you did venture out on a wintry day to photograph these farms. They are picture postcard perfect, or how about for a calendar?
Scenes like this do offer a sense of serenity and one can also imagine hot biscuits coming out of the oven in the kitchen. :-)
Merry Christmas
Judith

What lovely scenery, Georgianna. I LOVE snow and perhaps that is due to growing up in Norway.
Everything looks so beautiful and calm when the snow covers the land, and for a photographer it is MAGIC….
Have fun decorating……
I'm starting to believe that you're living in wonderland, and having a fairytale life! These photos are amazing! AMAZING. Absolutely love them. The snow all around, whitening the background and houses. Beautiful. Love the snow! :) One day, I shall experience snow. I will!

oh so magical.. They made me feel so peaceful. It's just starting to snow again now, normally I like the look of it but some of my family are due to visit from England tomorrow by train, so keeping fingers crossed it will not cause any problems! I love the snowflakes falling across the postcards! Wishing you a very magical Christmas if I don't chat before. Love, Catherine x
By the way, heading to Seattle tomorrow to take a look at a Mini Cooper Stationwagon…..I already have a Mini, but decided to get a slighty larger one.
I'll be thinking of you as i boogy along the Seattle streets.
aaahhhhh……..
Each of these is just magical Georgianna! Your work is so beautiful!

How I LOVE shooting on a day just like this! Old farms are one of my favorite subjects too. All of these shots are a feast for the eyes, G. The colors, the layout, even the little snowflakes falling are magical.
These images are beautiful and I had to look twice thinking I had little white flies on my screen but no…you have produced snow for me and this time of year it is the closest I will get! Thank you and have a wonderful time preparing for Christmas. x
Oh Georgianna, those are beautiful views. I love the way a barn and farmland look dusted with snow. :-)

Oh, I have SUCH a thing for barns. That's why my first "real" lens was a wide angle. I wanted to capture all the beautiful barns around here. Now I know I'll need to wait for snow. You, my friend, are a master!
