For a few days last June, we stayed at Le Manoir de Hérouville, a French country B&B; in the Calvados region of Normandy. Above, the last stretch of the long drive ends at the 18th century manor house. Below, looking back down the drive from the upper floors. I will let the photos tell most of the story this time.
Lavender and roses at Le Pigeonnier, a restored dovecot on the property which is also guest accommodation:
The main staircase inside the manor; a garden shed:
Orchids on one of the landings, and Le Pigeonnier:
Vintage art on the stairwell:
A collection of sailing paintings on the stairwell; roses on a stable building:
The top floor bedrooms of the Manoir (we stayed in the one on the left).
Sunrise through the skylight window. I did indeed record the birds but don’t have them edited yet to play here.
The view from the bathroom window:
The lake, roses and ducks:
The pond, filled with calla lilies and frogs:
Thank you so much for visiting! So much more to share, plus some exciting news and plans that I hope to have your opinion on.
Wishing you each a week with a bit of French flair!
with love,

oh just dreamy, those white paneled windows take me back with the views across the fields. I could just step right into my screen :) The Dove Cote was beautiful too… sigh :) I am STILL having trouble with my website, can not access it or the ftp to be able to update it, so I have had to use my Blog for my current Bear Fund Raising Event! I have finally been able to access email via the cpanel of my hosting company so something works sort of! Wishing you a very dreamy happy week. Catherine x
What a place!!!You were so lucky to stay there!
I wish I could some day! I just love French countryside.
Wow how beautiful!
Thank you for sharing.
Regards.

So many wonderful photos, but my favorite has to be the lavender and roses, and the one of the lake with roses and ducks. What beautiful settings you were blessed with!
that is a wonderful place, simply and sweet!
Such a beautiful place Georgianna. Not even very far from here… but we only once went on a vacation to Normandy and it rained without ceasing. We even came home earlier than planned. That's probably why Normandy never was an appealing holiday region to us ever again. We never went back. Now I think maybe we should try it again.
Your charming pictures make me long even more for spring and summer now. Sigh ;-)
Well, I know where to go if this winter becomes just to much to bear: To your blog to look at your amazing pictures.
Bye,
Marian
Oh how fortune we all are; to be transported by your photo's to places we can only dream of. I cannot wait for your surprise!
So romantic, peaceful and beautiful.

I have always wanted to go to Europe, but haven't had the opportunity … yet! And your pictures of the French countryside and Paris make me want to make the trip now! That must have been such a lovely place to stay – I don't think I'd ever want to leave.

What a beautiful scenery, hubby and I were almost drooling over these photos! Funny, last weekend we were viewing a Normandy travel website. One day we would like to rent a cottage for a week close to the sea.
Hi G, Beautiful pictures, I will visit someday. My fav. is the dovecote and lavender. Enjoy your week. hugs, Jen.xo
Book a weekend for me! How charming– Le Manoir must have been so delightful. Hope you find yourself there again someday soon.
What a beautiful place. I love the stonework on the buildings with the roses growing up. The Allees are definitely French. The fragrance of the lavender must have been heavenly. V

WOW G – what a gorgeous place!! I would love to go there to regroup (for about a year) hee hee!!! Your pics took me away for a few minutes and I sure needed that – thank you!! hugs – t.
Dear Georgianna,
Le Manoir looks like the perfect place to get away and I enjoyed seeing your gorgeous photographs. We found the B&B;'s wonderful too, the hospitality and comfortable rooms were so much nicer than a Hotel.
Hope that you are having a beautiful week
Hugs
Carolyn
G ~ these photos are so breathtaking and realistic. I almost feel like I've been there myself now. Of course I know I haven't, but a girl can always dream! As always, thank you for sharing your beautiful world! ~Stacy~ xo

Hi Georgianna,
Thanks for this beautiful journey! I'm soaking up all the delightful sunshine and color, as I look out at a bleak, grey day. My favorite captures are the last two – love the mood of the lake, roses, and ducks, and the design and wonderful callas in the last!
Have a happy weekend :)

Hi G
I've been out of commission for a couple of days while driving to Florida – for the month of February.
You and David stay at the most amazing places. Look at the lavender, the roses…the bedroom – wow!
You know I'll want to hear the birds. :-)

Such exquisite images g… I can't tell you how much I am enjoying looking at them (on my lunch time at work… now that's really getting away!). What a wonderful trip you must have had! Were you using a graduated filter on some of your shots? I just got one recently, but have not had a chance to try it out yet. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful and inspiring work! Dianne

Thanks for capturing the beauties with your talent and shared!!!!
Georgianna, thank you for these wonderful photographs, you have made me fall in love with my home all over again. Living in a place like Le Manoir sometimes makes it difficult to appreciate its beauty but seeing it through the eye of your lens has made me stand back and look at the old place in a new light, you really are extraordinarily gifted.
