Hello, friends! The carnival has opened in the Tuileries and I’ve been indulging my long-time passion for aerial rides on these beautiful summer days. I thought you’d enjoy seeing some of the sights from above the city.
Here’s the view from the Swings which spin (very fast!) over the carnival and the Tuileries gardens. On the right you can see Rue de Rivoli.
The Swings are a bit too fast for any still photos so I’ve also gone up in the slower-moving Ferris Wheel to capture most of these images. Here are the Eiffel Tower, the Tuileries garden and the view down the river.
The opposite view over the streets of the 1st arrondissement up to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur.
Looking over the Louvre and the other end of Rue de Rivoli.
We had so much rain in June that the gardens are as green and lush as I’ve ever seen them.
These are the two rides I went on to get the images. Definitely felt like a kid again!
Here you can see all the way to La Dèfense.
I hope this has given you a little taste of summer in Paris!
À bientôt!
With love,
G

Hi, Linda, that sounds like a lovely interlude! I do hope you can return soon. The regulations are changing by the minute so a bit more patience and you’ll be able to travel with more certainty and safety.

Your emails are such a treat to get in the middle of a busy work day! I can escape to Paris virtually through your photographs! I especially love this month’s aerial shots and shots of the carnival, made me feel like i was there for just a second! So lovely! TAHNK YOU! :)
georgianna says
Hello, Johanna! I’m so happy to hear that. I hoped that the carnival images would give you that feeling. I took a lot of video, too, but had to delete the audio (for the screams!) :) Hope you are safe and well.

Thanks so much, my lovely friend!
It has been really, really green this year. But just today, literally overnight, the leaves have started turning. I’m never ready to see summer go.

Wonderful and fantastic images, Georgianna! I wish to express my infinite gratitude for sharing them here. Researchers like me appreciate them very much. I had been to your magnificent city in 2018 and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I happen to research on the life of St. Genevieve, the Patron Saint of Paris. My beloved parents named me after her. This Lenten Season, I was requested to talk about her life and what we can learn from her pious, prayerful, courageous examples amidst the dangers of wars and conflicts going on in the world, as well as the impact of the covid-19 pandemic, climate change among others. I would like to use of your images for my presentation to participants here in the Philippines.

Such beautiful shots Georgianna! It is lovely to get a different perspective from up high. I will have to remember to try this when I visit next May. I think I will stick to the Ferris Wheel though. That other ride looks terrifying.
