Bonjour, mes amis! As promised, here is Part II of my coverage of Paris in the 2021 festive season. (See Part I here.) Above and below is the installation at Hôtel de Ville, the town hall of Paris, enhanced with the sound of carols playing all day. Behind the clusters of twinkling trees is a holiday market with booths selling gifts made in France, hot wine, hot chocolate and other holiday delights. The grand square in front of the palace is also home to one of the prettiest carousels in Paris.
Below, strings of lights deck the shop windows inside Galerie Vivienne.
I shared the Dior star in the previous post but they added another one on the ground in the interim, flanked with statues of dogs and stags:
Cafes and shop fronts go all out for the season, adding bright spots of wonder and cheer along the streets. This one is Louise on Boulevard Saint-Germain.
The famous chocolatier, A La Mère de la Famille on Rue Bonaparte always looks like a traditional Christmas painting, especially given its position next to a beautiful red door.
Bar du Marché accents its usual red striped awnings with bows and boughs.
A street sign in the 1st arrondissement festooned with decorations and Barthelemy, a picture-perfect cheese shop literally steps from our apartment.
Also just at the end of our street, the florist Rosa Luna.
You’ve seen this door many times and it is also just a block from the apartment. Next to Au Nom de La Rose floral boutique and in the same building as Deyrolle, you can’t get more classic Parisian than this!
Some festive scenes around Saint Germain.
Sugar plum ballet dreams at Repetto boutique.
More Laduree façades on Rue Bonaparte (left) and Rue Royale.
The cutest line up of trees at Cafe Laurent.
And let’s wrap up our tour with a fireside afternoon tea at the stylish and cozy Hôtel de l’Abbaye right down the street!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this sampling of the holiday decor in Paris.
Wishing you a bright, beautiful and safe holiday and New Year!
xx
