Recently my good friend, top French floral designer Laetitia Meyer, came to my apartment with her assistant Sophie to create a spring floral fantasy. She and I had envisioned and talked about doing this for many months and it was a thrill to finally see it materialize right before my eyes!
Laetitia is the founder and owner of Florésie, one of the top floral design studios in France (Florésie.com). Her gorgeous work is regularly featured on top wedding sites, including Martha Stewart Weddings. She also created the step-by-step arrangement that appears in the appendix of my book Paris in Bloom. She is a delight to work with and we always have the best time together.
The day before, Laetitia and I traveled to Rungis, the huge wholesale flower market outside of Paris. Purchasing flowers at Rungis is an adventure, especially when you must arrive before dawn to source the very freshest and best varieties. We had a joyful time wandering among the vendors and choosing whatever blooms we fancied for our installation. After preparing the flowers that evening, Laetitia arrived at my apartment in her van and she, Sophie and I ferried what seemed like dozens of buckets up in our elevator to my salon, where the two designers began creating magic, starting with the magnificent floral arch in the window.
Here are some behind the scenes images.
And here is the final arch, composed of Kwanzan cherry branches, poppies, tulips, narcissus, lilacs, roses, ranunculus and a multi-colored eucalyptus. The detail was magnifique!
Next, they turned their talents to an extravagant floral tableau on the salon mantel, which spilled onto the hearth and included Kwanzan cherry branches, poppies, tulips, grape hyacinth, lilacs, narcissus, roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, sweet peas and anemones. Utterly luscious!
At the end, we were all exhausted but exhilarated at seeing our vision come to life. Working with an abundance of flowers is so therapeutic for the soul.
We hope you enjoy this fantasy realm!
With love,

Oh my goodness! There are just no words to describe this flower heaven that was created in your beautiful Paris salon. I would want it to never grow dim and fade. But as long as it lasted I would wake each morning and give thanks as I walked into this dream. Thank you, Georgianna, for sharing this little paradise with us! It has certainly soothed my soul and up lifted my spirit!! Blessings, Cate

Hi Cate!
My apologies for a long delay in responding. I’m so happy to hear that the installation soothed your soul and lifted your spirits – that is what we hoped it would do! It did not last long but I took many, many photos so have a record of this beauty. Thank you again for visiting, Cate, and for always being so supportive.
My best,
G

Hi again, Cate!
I’m truly delighted to hear that you are so connected with my work – it means so much to me!
I have done one photography workshop in Paris a few years ago but before Covid. I don’t have any yet planned for the future but will definitely let everyone know via the newsletter. And I would love to have you attend.
May would indeed be perfect. Although this year the blooming was several weeks early due to a heat wave in February so planning is a bit nerve-racking and uncertain. However, regardless of what the weather does, there will always be peonies in the markets.
Thanks so much again for your interest!
My best,
G

This is simply gorgeous, Georgianna! And amazing that the flowers were all live! How long did this last, or is it still going strong? Wow. Thank you for this delightful vision.

Hi Joy,
Thank you so much for stopping by! The floral installation was only up for one day. Then it was taken down and the flowers were used for an event. The “leftovers” that I had lasted about a week. So glad you enjoyed it!
My best,
Georgianna

Hi Connie,
Thank you so much. I’m very glad you enjoyed seeing the arrangements. It was a fun day with yes, a beautiful fragrance that filled the apartment.
I am in planning stages with the floral designer for a new installation this spring and will share that when we are finished.
