After relishing a shimmering autumn of warmth and sunshine in Paris, we’ve experienced a rapid transition into a chilly and gray prelude to winter. The trees lining the avenues have been at their absolute peak color, with their intensity even more vibrant against the neutral skies. I’ve been out capturing the last of their beauty to share with you here.
A few days ago, I climbed the nearly 300 steps to the top of the Arc de Triomphe to witness them from above. The day was muted and somber but the foggy background only enhanced the breathtaking display radiating out. I’ve used no digital trickery – the colors are exactly as they appeared in person!
I’ve always loved the elegance of the cream and gray buildings encircling the arch. From such a height, the details, balance and symmetry are able to be fully appreciated.
Below, the Champs Elysées with the Louvre in the far distance.
The trees at the end of my street and along Blvd. Saint-Germain are as just as golden.
And a few final moody shots from the river and Luxembourg Gardens.
À bientôt!
love,
G

Your autumn photos are spectacular! I have also climbed those 300 steps to the top of the Arc and what a view in autumn! I so enjoy seeing all of your photos year round. At 79yrs. I may not be traveling back to Paris again in person but your photos take me there over and over again. What a special treat! Thank you!

Hi Beverly and thank you so much! Wonderful that you’ve also made that climb up the Arc to see the autumn leaves. I’m not sure how many more times I’ll feel like doing it but I was pretty proud of myself for getting straight to the top this time with all my camera gear. It had been a few years since I had done it. :)
It means so much to me that my photos can help to transport you back to Paris. I will continue to share the delights of this season and I appreciate you stopping by!
My best,
Georgianna

I too love the color palette of autumn and gray-cream with no digital trickery. I enjoy your beautiful photography and how you bring interest to what could be just an ordinary image of the city.
