We never tire of rancunculus, do we? I’ve been working with some textures and digital papers I made a few years ago – some destined for prints, some for cards. A secret to better depth in the image is many layers used strategically to enhance, not just mask the image. I’ll cover some tips on this in the upcoming tutorial(s).
:)
(A little message to D who is in Europe at a client’s. He reads my blog now so we all have to behave.)
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your comments on the last post and welcome to new followers. Really, I was so pleased that you enjoyed the botanicals. (I almost didn’t post them as I thought the Latin might not be of interest but now you will get more! :) )
I’ve experienced some incredible artists this week. Do visit Thorsten Becker and let him weave the tale of Wind’s Little Sister.
Wishing you a beautiful week! Oh, and Spring, we are ready for you – with bells on!

Beautiful photos, G.! I'd never seen ranunculas until I joined Flickr … we don't have them here as cut flowers. *sob* I did see them for the first time last year as a potted plant so maybe I can find them again. I like your texture work … very soft and subtle. xo

What a beautiful 'study" of one of my favorite flowers! The very first photo is absolutely breathtaking! Not having been exposed much to ranunculus in my younger years since they don't really grow well in Houston, I'm enjoying them even more in the last decade since they are new friends to me. I love the layering look–hope to see more!

G, I always like whatever images you have to offer.
One day I would love to have a garden just for cut flowers. Ranunculus are definitely on the list! And lots of them!
Have you ever seen the book, A Passion for Flowers' by Carolyne Roehm? If not you might want to check Alibris.com to see if a local library has it. The photography is phenomenal and inspiring!
A New England Life says
I'm sorry. I meant worldcat.org. Alibris sells books, but you probably already knew that.

I found your website after reading "Somerset Life." I am so amazed at the beauty of your images. The nest in the cherry blossom tree was lovely. I haven't been able to choose a favorite; I love them all. I have a great fondness for carousels and carousel horses so that's the first one I intend to make mine! I can't say enough about your work. You've truly brought some magic into my life. Thanks!
Beth Bartels says
My previous comment is referring to the prints in your Etsy shop. I also had to smile at the photo of the columbine. That was the name of my 5th grade camp's girls' cabin–I'd never seen it before and I remember thinking it sounded so drab–I never imagined it was so lovely.
