Hello, friends! In late spring we visited one of THE most magical locations I’ve ever experienced: the windmills of Kinderdijk in the Netherlands. Imagine a perfect day of billowing clouds, soft Dutch light and the enchanting structures that are the symbol of Holland. Such a classic scene, right out of a painting. I thought it would be fun to pair images from that never-to-be-forgotten day with a few of charming windflowers, one of my favorite late summer blooms.
While traveling, I shot quite a lot of video footage which I look forward to sharing with you in the months to come. Here is the first and I hope it gives you a taste of what a day at Kinderdijk is like:

p.s. just for fun, here is one more video that I took in the Dutch countryside. Whenever I am getting to stressed about things, this lightens the mood. :)

I wish you a wonderful evening! xo.

Love the name ‘windflowers’, as you must know by now, also my very favourite, even more now after this year of many disasters gardenwise but these windflowers are still standing.
Perfectly combined with the windmills of Kinderdijk in Holland.

So beautiful! Soft Dutch light – quite a contrast (literally) to our harsh Aussie light. Always a challenge for us Down Under! :-)

Hi dear Georgianna,
Gosh……. such long time no see and now you were almost in the neighbourhood. Such gorgeous pictures you made of the Kinderdijk ‘molens’ as we call them. They are unique indeed, aren’t they. I used to drive along that road a lot as i’ve lived in that neighbourhood years ago! You could have come over for coffee then, but now i’m much further away from there. Anyway, you did manage to make the most beautiful dreamy pictures again. I love that mauve color of the Anemones along with the soft blue sky pictures. So typical Dutch indeed! You’re amazing. I hope all is well with you!
Blessings and hugs,
Ingeborg

How lovely to see these windmills – I didn’t even know this place existed – I wonder if they are still working? Also I have never heard the Japanese anemone called a windflower – what a romantic name!
Beautiful photos – I do love to see your work.
