Clematis ‘Rosemoor’
I love all the flowers in my garden. I try to visit each of them as they’re blooming and let them know they are admired and appreciated. Some, like the rose Lady Emma Hamilton, I speak to in a revered hush, she of the exquisite shape and fragrance.
But for this beauty, I have no words. I stand where she grows, in two different places on the property, and simply stare, dumbfounded that a such a magnificent bloom should deign to grow in my humble garden.
I’ve written about her before and admit to using the first photo above in a previous post. But her beauty is elusive and that image, I believe, most closely captures her rich array of velvety tones.
But that doesn’t stop me from photographing her, as I did here this year.
No less beautiful, but in a more understated manner, is her partner on the trellis, ‘The President’. He blooms earlier but his shimmery purples and blues are equally hard to faithfully portray in a photograph.

Oh such beauty! I can see why you love photographing them, I would LOVE to have clematis in my garden as well.

So evocative, she's definitely a velvety beauty!

Gorgeous, clematis are such amazing flowers! I've done a few posts about them myself. Mine looked a little ragged and worse for the wear this year though.
I think my lack of attention is beginning to show in my garden:(
But I know I can always come here to see some beauty that is sadly lacking at my place.

I'll make us all a cup of tea and bake a cake just for the joy of looking at those beautiful clematis, Rosemoor really does look like velvet. Such a treasure. x

Dear Georgianna, I love this post! I look at everyone of my flowers. Every day I "make the rounds". I talk to them and admire their beauty. But I keep this habit to myself.
My favorite clematis is the "President" . You have captured it beautifully. I also like the large white "Henry".
Have a great weekend.
Georgianna says
Jutta – I think you could have them in your garden, there are some very hardy varieties, I believe. That would be lovely.
Sylvia, I will look up your clematis posts. And I'm sure your garden is still full of beauty.
Catherine, I would so love for you to make us tea and cakes! Perfect!
Gina, wonderful to know we share that garden ritual. And I'm especially pleased that you think I did justice to The President.

I never tire of seeing your Clematis photos, old or new. Each one is exquisite. I can just see you in my minds eye sitting in your beautiful garden working on your laptop. Not sure that should be called "working" though. ♥

Hi Georgianna,
I have those same clematis but my photos don't look like yours! However, now I am inspired to go out and try again.I love the rich color of Rosemoor-it is definitely on of my very favorites. This year something bkoke off a lot of the stems before it bloomed-I am blaming a racoon but not certain.
Thank you for the praise on my tea-wish you could pop in for real!

Yes, I can see why they are called the Queen of the Vines. Your photos are perfect. Heard about the shower, but I do not know if I could stay awake long enough to see them. Enjoy the weekend and take care.

Gorgeous photos, and I think my very favorite of them all has to be the very first photo. It took my breath away. I wanted to sit next to it and soak in its beauty and just experience it. Sounds corny I know, but it did that for me.

The clematis really is such a beautiful flower, my dad used to have some growing in his garden trailing over a red wooden fence but he had to remove it so he could build on some extra room for his growing family! You've done her justice here, those deep purples are just divine.
Daniel & I peeped out on our balcony last night to see if we could spot any meteors, but alas the sky was too cloudy and the added city lights meant there was nothing in the sky for us to see. I remember many frosty nights spent wrapped up lying in a blanket in our garden in my homeplace, gazing up into the sky and counting the falling stars. There really is no other sight that is so thrilling and inspiring. And what a lovely way for it to start for you with a shooting light at dawn! I hope you had fun out watching at night & saw lots of falling stars to wish upon xxx

Hello G
After a long day of meetings and gardening seminars I can sit and visit a few blogs. I would never think to photograph my clematis from the angles you do. Aren't they the most beautiful flowers from every side?
In awe of the first photo in the post.
